The Pump House

This is the inside of the Pump House for Fernilee Reservoir during a re-fit in February 2005.  It was constructed by the Stockport Water Corporation in 1938 and supplies the drinking water for the town of Stockport and its surrounding areas.  While the demolition work continued in the second room through the open white door, I quickly climbed the fence and took this very unusual shot which doubles as a striking creative image and a rarely seen record of this beautiful industrial building.
